Differential (hash) scanning overview

MetaDefender Software Supply Chain supports differential scanning for source code services, allowing you to scan only changes instead of running a full scan every time.

Configure hash scanning

You can enable hash scanning during Step 4 - Workflow Creation.

  1. Select a Scan Pool.
  2. Select a Rule.
  3. Enable the Hash Scanning toggle (it is disabled until a scan pool and rule are selected).

Hash scanning will be available soon for Container and Binary services.

Set the scan frequency

After enabling hash scanning, set the scan frequency (in days). This value determines how often MetaDefender Software Supply Chain rescans your source code repository for changes.

When the next scan starts, the system compares the latest version of your source code against the previously scanned version to identify changes.
