MetaDefender Drive v4.4.5

Released on May 11, 2026This release includes new features, improvements, bug fixes
New Features
  • Differential Scans: Significantly reduces scan times for returning visitors by up to 90% through intelligent hash-based baseline caching — only scanning new or modified files instead of rescanning the entire device, enabling faster facility throughput without compromising security compliance. To enable this feature, visit Preferences → Scan Settings
  • Auto Send Scan Report when plugging to KIOSK: Streamline post-scan compliance workflows by enabling Kiosk to automatically email device scan reports (complete with a signed passport cover page and QR code) to IT security teams upon user authentication, eliminating manual report distribution and accelerating threat visibility for enterprise environments.
  • Send email notification via My OPSWAT: Automatically notify IT teams via email when MetaDefender Drive detects an unsafe device, enabling faster incident response through seamless integration with ServiceNow.
  • Support setting versioning in CM: Enables seamless configuration versioning across CM10 Cloud and On-Premise deployments, ensuring MDD instances always apply the correct policy version with built-in integrity verification — reducing misconfiguration risks and simplifying multi-device policy management at scale.
  • Sync In-Session scan reports from MDD and DTK: Ensures in-session scan reports from both boot scans and in-ession scans are automatically synced to the configured Central Management once a connection is available, improving visibility and auditability of all scans.
Improvements
  • In-Session scan systems without Admin Access: removes the admin-access barrier for in-session endpoint scanning, empowering IT and security teams to achieve broader device compliance coverage without navigating complex privilege escalation workflows.
  • Unify Reports from Drive Boot Scan and In-Session Scan: MetaDefender Drive now unifies report formats across Pre-Boot Scan and In-Session Scan into a single consistent structure, giving security teams a complete 360° device security posture in one report.
Bug fixed
  • Fix HTTPS connectivity failure between MetaDefender Drive and Central Management v10 when using private Root CA certificates, restoring reliable secure device enrollment.
  • Resolves incorrect engine status indicator in MetaDefender Drive UI, ensuring accurate color-coded visibility of engine readiness for customer
  • Improves scan dashboard accuracy by displaying Read/Write throughput only for the actively scanned disk, eliminating misleading metrics from unscanned storage devices.
  • Reports now display full file type group names instead of abbreviations, improving clarity and readability for users reviewing scan results.
  • Workflows now correctly display the 10 most recent scan reports (or 9 latest plus the pinned baseline), ensuring users always see the most up-to-date results at a glance.
  • Resolved a critical memory leak in the Alin AI engine that could exhaust system memory during scanning, preventing system freezes and eliminating the need for forced reboots.
