On January 26th 2026, we introduced MetaDefender Aether, an evolution of our existing MetaDefender Sandbox 3.0.0, enhanced with additional capabilities to provide broader and more integrated threat defence.
MetaDefender Aether brings together MetaDefender Sandbox, Threat Intelligence, and Threat Hunting into a unified solution designed to deliver deeper insights and stronger protection across the threat lifecycle.
Product Availability and Packaging
Continued availability of MetaDefender Sandbox
MetaDefender Sandbox remains a fully supported product and is not being discontinued or designated as End of Life. Customers can continue to rely on Sandbox as a core component of their security stack with ongoing support and development.
Standalone Sandbox Option
For organisations that require sandboxing capabilities only, MetaDefender Sandbox continues to be available for purchase as a standalone solution. This option provides core sandbox functionality without the additional Threat Intelligence components included in MetaDefender Aether.
Commercial Packaging of MetaDefender Aether
MetaDefender Aether is a premium offering that combines the capabilities of Sandbox and Threat Intelligence into a single, comprehensive solution. As an advanced, integrated product, it is available as a paid offering reflecting the expanded functionality and value it delivers.
Single download with license-based functionality
The MetaDefender Aether package available for download from the MYOPSWAT Portal is delivered as a single installer. The functionality and product experience are determined by the applied license key — customers with a MetaDefender Aether license will see the platform operate as MetaDefender Aether, while customers with a MetaDefender Sandbox license will continue to experience the product as MetaDefender Sandbox. This approach simplifies deployment while ensuring customers receive the capabilities aligned with their licensed entitlements.
