Note on System Requirements

Please be aware that the system requirements for our software are contingent upon the quantity and size of files being processed. Larger quantities or bigger files may demand more computational resources, such as memory and CPU power, for optimal performance. Ensure that you consider your anticipated workload when evaluating your system's capabilities.

MetaDefender for Secure Storage automatically deploys the following components:

Virtual memory requirements

MetaDefender for Secure Storage requires 32GB of free committed memory to run Docker containers. To increase committed memory you can increase the pagefile size or add more physical RAM.

System requirements for Windows Server

• Internet connectivity to hub.docker.com
• Virtualization is supported and enabled
• If you're deploying on a virtual machine in Hyper-V
  1. Ensure that nested virtualization is configured. Stop the virtual machine first and then run the following command on the physical Hyper-V host:

Set-VMProcessor -VMName <VMName> -ExposeVirtualizationExtensions $true

2. Start back the virtual machine and connect to it

System Requirements for Windows

• Virtualization is supported and enabled

• Operating system:

  • Windows 10 Pro / Enterprise / Enterprise LTSC 2019 Build 17763 or above
  • Windows 10 Home Build 18363 or above

• Docker Desktop for Windows 2.2.x or above

  • Docker Desktop must be installed and running before starting MDSS
  • Make sure you read the system requirements before beginning

• (Alternative) Rancher Desktop or other Docker engine wrapper

  • Make sure you read the system requirements before beginning

  • Disable Traefik: Preferences -> Kubernetes -> Untick "Enable Traefik"

• (Optional) .NET Framework 4.8

  • If .NET Framework 4.8 is not present the installer will attempt to install it automatically but this may require a system reboot in the middle of the installation.
  • When this happens, you will see an error regarding insufficient privileges to start the service. Please click Abort and then you will be prompted to reboot the system.
  • After the reboot, you can run the installer again to complete the installation.
