Initial Configuration
This page covers the first-time setup of the MetaDefender Industrial Firewall (MD-IF): connecting to the web interface, signing in, changing the default password, setting the management IP address, and applying your license.
Accessing the Web Interface
- Default IP address: The appliance's factory-default management IP is 10.10.10.10/24.
- Configure your PC: Set your computer to the same subnet, for example 10.10.10.20/24.
- Open the web interface: Browse to https://10.10.10.10.
Note: Contact OPSWAT support if you do not have the default username and password.
Changing the Default Password
Global Setting > Device Setting > Settings > Authentication > User Accounts
For security, change the default password immediately after your first login.
- Go to Global Setting > Device Setting > Authentication and open the System tab.
- In User Accounts, select your account and click Reset Password.
- Enter and confirm a new password.
- Click Submit.
Setting the Management IP Address
Global Setting > Device Setting > Settings > Network > IP Configuration
The management interface uses 10.10.10.10/24 by default. To change it for your network:
- Go to Global Setting > Device Setting > Settings > Network tab > IP Configuration.
- Select the management port and set its IP address, netmask, and gateway, or enable DHCP.
- Click Submit.
Note: Changing the management IP ends your current session. Reconnect at the new address.
Applying a License
Global Setting > Device Setting > License
- Go to Global Setting > Device Setting > License.
- Click Action > Update License.
- Upload your license file and click Submit.
The License page shows your active license tier (Standard or GE).
