How to Unblock Removable Devices in Peripheral Device Control?

This article applies to MetaDefender Endpoint - Windows Persistent (7.6.2505.721)

Peripheral device and removable media protection involves securing external hardware that can interface with computer systems and industrial assets. This includes commonly used storage media such as USB flash drives, external hard drives, CDs, SD cards, and floppy disks, as well as a broader range of devices. Peripherals like Bluetooth-enabled keyboards, mice, headphones, and both wired and wireless printers and scanners also fall under this category. These devices facilitate power delivery, data transfer, and user interaction, making them convenient tools for storing, sharing, inputting, and transporting information—while also presenting potential vectors for security threats.

This feature helps detect devices by their name or port, which can be viewed in the UI under Peripheral Device Control. Devices can be displayed by port or device name.

Device details can be centrally managed through My OPSWAT Central Management or MetaDefender IT Access.

To unblock a removable media device, click the "Unblock" button and wait for the scan to complete.

After the scan is completed and no threats are found, you can now access the files on your device.
