MetaDefender Drive Smart Touch v2.1.0

Released on Aug 09, 2026

This release includes new features, improvements, bug fixes.

New Features

  • Smart Touch Operator can set the time zone on Smart Touch and keep its clock in step, so scan times and reports carry the correct local time.

  • Operators can scan for wireless networks, join one, inspect its details or forget it directly on Smart Touch, including hidden networks and enterprise authentication settings.

  • Support packages generated by Smart Touch now include the MetaDefender Drive in-session scan logs, so scan issues can be diagnosed from a single collected package.

Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • The Wi-Fi setup screens fit the Smart Touch display, so every entry field and the save button stay reachable on a device that cannot pinch to zoom.

  • Wi-Fi profiles the device creates as WPA3 are converted to WPA2, so a drive whose hardware cannot use WPA3 reconnects without anyone editing the network by hand.

  • Users can now connect their Smart Touch device to any host computer without experiencing unexpected USB disconnections or file re-scans caused by the previously intermittent issue.

  • A Smart Touch with a damaged drive image reports the corruption instead of Ready To Scan, and stays visible to MetaDefender Drive Toolkit for reflashing.

  • The Smart Touch screen stays responsive while engines are being extracted or the processor is otherwise busy, so operators can keep navigating during a session.

  • On MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch, a damaged drive image no longer surfaces as a misleading License Activation Required warning, so a corrupted image is not mistaken for a licensing problem.

  • Smart Touch detects a missing or damaged MetaDefender Drive image at startup and reflashes it automatically, so the unit returns to a bootable, scannable state without manual repair.

  • Smart Touch reports scan status and picks up scan reports as soon as the cable is removed, instead of showing stale information during and after a session.

  • A drive that is enrolled but out of contact with OPSWAT Central Management reads as disconnected on Smart Touch, rather than appearing never to have been enrolled.

  • This version of Smart Touch includes updates to the device operating system as well as to the application itself.

  • Smart Touch keeps showing the correct scanning status while MetaDefender Drive is running, so users are no longer told the device is not ready during an active scan.

  • Enrolling and un-enrolling with a one-time password now works reliably, so you no longer have to reboot or wait and try again.

  • Files scanned in an earlier session are no longer wrongly reported as clean, so each scan on the Kiosk reflects only the files actually checked.

  • Smart Touch no longer reports the drive as not ready to scan while it is still booting normally, avoiding a false sense of failure.

  • Overnight scans of a Smart Touch device run through to the end rather than locking up the MetaDefender Drive host and forcing a manual power cycle.

  • Device Scanning returns to Ready to Scan by itself once an engine update finishes, instead of remaining stuck on Not Ready To Scan.

  • Updated engines now finish preparing promptly instead of sitting unusable for hours, so the drive is ready to scan soon after boot.

  • Engine updates now download and install reliably on Smart Touch, so scanning engines stay current instead of failing or hanging partway through.

  • Smart Touch devices enrolled through MetaDefender Drive Toolkit now report their license, health status and enrollment state correctly to OPSWAT Central Management.

  • Scan reports now sync on the first plug into a kiosk, so results and engine updates complete without unplugging and trying again.

  • Smart Touch enrolled to an on-premises OPSWAT Central Management now downloads its security engines from that server, so air-gapped units stay up to date without internet access.

  • Removing a Smart Touch enrollment completes in a reasonable time rather than stalling, so a device can be released and reassigned when it is needed elsewhere.

  • Connecting Smart Touch to a computer no longer remounts the drive, so it reports Ready To Scan only once the connection is genuinely stable.

  • Deleting a kiosk certificate now explains that Secure File Storage is still syncing, so the temporarily disabled Add Certification action is no longer confusing.

  • Unreadable files are no longer mistaken for a full disk, so users see a dedicated file issue screen and can review and delete just the affected files instead of erasing all data.

  • Secure File Storage drives are accepted the first time they are inserted into MetaDefender Kiosk, so a session starts without removing and reinserting the drive.

  • Unscanned-file warnings now name the real cause and the expiry time, appear on entering secure storage without replugging the cable, and flag files scanned by an unpaired kiosk.

  • Smart Touch keeps showing the OPSWAT Central Management enrollment status after a fresh install, so it no longer briefly appears unenrolled while the host boots.

  • OPSWAT Central Management shows the new MetaDefender Drive version as soon as the image is updated from Smart Touch, with no reboot needed to see it.
