Getting Started with MetaDefender Drive Smart Touch
MetaDefender Drive comes as an out-of-the-box solution, with the latest software and scanning engine versions installed. MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch comes is a mobile form factor to add flexibility and connectivity to the transient device scanning processes.
During the first use, users will be guided by a few prompts as for the initial setup process.
If your system's hardware is below the recommended specifications, please expect slow processing and performance reduction
If you insert MetaDefender Drive into the target device while this device is already booted, please DON'T format the Drive's partition if prompted by the operating system. Such formatting will erase MetaDefender Drive's software and prevent it from functioning.
Prepare the MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch
Initialize your MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch
- Power on your MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch
- Unlock it using the default password: 123456
- The device will be ready when it shows the Ready to Scan message
MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch comes with a preset password when customers first receive the device. It is recommended to change this password before deployment.
Connect to the internet (optional)
It is recommended to connect MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch to the internet before the first use:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen
- Tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon
- Select a secure Wi-Fi network and connect to it
Connect to the target device
- Ensure the target device is powered off
- Use the USB-C to USB-C cable to connect MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch to a USB-C port on the powered-off device
It is recommended to connect the target device to a power source throughout the setup and scanning processes to avoid disruptions
Run your First Scan
To run your first scan, follow the instructions on this page
Performing Updates
- On the Ready to Scan screen, tap Check Update
- MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch will check for available updates
- In case of finding available updates, they will show on the right side of the screen
- Tap Update Now, and MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch will download and install all the available updates
- You will be notified once all updates are downloaded and successfully installed.
