Why do email timestamps differ from the local machine time where CES is deployed?

Overview Some customers have noticed discrepancies between email timestamps and their local time where the CES (Cloud Email Security) is deployed. This issue persists even after enabling the "Use the server's local time zone" option under Settings > General.

Cause: CES has two different time zone settings:

  1. The time zone setting for notifications and reports under Settings > General.
  2. The individual user time zone setting under User Settings (accessible by clicking the human icon on the top right of the CES UI).

Even if the time zone for notifications and reports is set to the server's local time, individual users must configure their own time zone under User Settings to ensure email timestamps reflect their expected local time.

Solution: To resolve this issue, users should adjust their personal time zone setting in CES by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the CES UI.

  2. Click the human icon on the top right corner.

  3. Select User Settings.

  4. Locate the Time Zone option.

  5. Set it to the appropriate local time zone.

  6. Click Save to apply the changes.
